DESCRIPTION:The Roswell Symphony Orchestra is back from summer break and preparing a tribute to the country's 250th anniversary to launch its latest musical season. On Sept. 26\, the RSO will present America 250\, a concert program honoring the signing of the Declaration of Independence with patriotic pieces from various eras. Audiences can look forward to hearing compositions by Aaron Copland\, George Gershwin and John Philip Sousa\, plus a medley of U.S. military branch songs and an invitation to sing along with the symphony to an arrangement of America\, the Beautiful. "There's only one 250th birthday year\, so this is our chance to celebrate this very special occasion\," RSO Music Director Dr. John Farrer says. "Come and enjoy it. It's all very enjoyable\, beautiful\, well-composed\, accessible music\, and the orchestra and I will be having a good time as well." The full America 250 concert program includes: Fanfare for the Common Man\, by Aaron Copland Hoedown from Rodeo\, by Aaron Copland Bugler's Holiday\, by Leroy Anderson Porgy and Bess Selections\, by George Gershwin Lincoln Portrait\, by Aaron Copland Victory at Sea Selections\, by Richard Rodgers and Robert Russell Bennett American Salute\, by Morton Gould Armed Forces Salute\, Arr. by Bob Lowden America\, the Beautiful Arr. by Carmen Dragon Stars and Stripes Forever\, by John Philip Sousa Tickets for Sept. 26 are available for purchase online at roswellsymphony.org or at the door and range in price from $20 to $35. Students attend all symphony concerts free of charge.
