The Santa Fe Opera invites opera fans and newcomers across New Mexico to enjoy free film screenings of Puccini’s La bohème. Opera on Screen offers audiences a fresh way to engage with this timeless tale of love set to some of opera’s best-loved music. The live performance film was recorded during the opera’s 2025 Season. Wrote Mark Tiarks for The Santa Fe New Mexican, “To sum up, the 2025 Bohème stands in the top tier of recent Santa Fe Opera productions.” Opera on Screen kicks off at Roswell’s Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art on February 6 and concludes at the Taos Center for the Arts on March 1. As part of select screenings, Santa Fe Opera educators Oliver Prezant and Dr. Olga Perez Flora will present a fun, family-friendly preview of the opera, where attendees will hear about the story, music, singers, and the creative team’s vision behind the setting, scenery and costumes. Free reservations are required for all screenings and can be made at www.santafeopera.org/whats-on/opera-on-screen. The event runtime is approximately 2.5 hours, with no intermission. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The La bohème performance recording is directed by Brian Weed, with support from assistant director Nathan Troup and editor Jesse Fisher.
